Marduk the Sorcerer

"Nor is it to be thought that man is either the oldest or the last of earth's masters, or that the common bulk of life and substance walks alone." - H.P. Lovecraft, The Necronomicon

The demon sorcerer Marduk serves the Black Hand in the capacity of an archivist of magic and the arcane arts. A fierce warrior possessed of a bloodlust unique among the Voices, he sees this duty as beneath him. In Heaven, he was a captain of the guard under Gabriel, and his defection to the camp of Lucifer was regarded as a tremendous betrayal. Now, in the Inferno, he believes this should afford him higher status, and he wastes no opportunity to say as much - even to the Dark Lord himself. Lucifer, of course, knows the truth about Marduk: having defied God and turned on his brothers in arms, the proud Marduk struggles with doubt and deep guilt. It is partially because of this weakness that Lucifer keeps Marduk where he is in the Black Hand's hierarchy. Marduk has moved extensively among humans, and has has over fifty names attributed to him. The 50 Names of Marduk include Pap-gal-gu-enna, Gish-numun-abba, Asaru, and Nibiru. He has a son, Nabu, with Lilith. Marduk keeps a private arsenal, having a taste for exotic weaponry and armor. His symbols are the lark, the obelisk, and the plum tree.
